SAINT LUKE'S Travel Price

Save up to 65% on prices in the United States.

Laser hair removal is one of the more common cosmetic procedures in the U.S. It beams a highly concentrated light to destroy the hair follicles in the skin, permanently reducing or eliminating unwanted hair.

We use the diode laser system that provides excellent results and can be used on the darkest skin types, and suitable for nearly any hair diameter and color. It can be used to selectively treat any area of the body, with exception of the skin around the eyes.

The surgeons at Saint Luke’s Hospital combine their considerable training and experience in laser and cosmetic dermatology, providing excellent results at affordable prices, usually 50- 65% lower than prices in the United States.

Dra. Griselda Izabal of dermatalogica, a dermatologist with extensive experience in dermatological treatments, provides the best patient care and excellent service.

Procedure

Several weeks before undergoing laser hair removal, you should reduce plucking, waxing and electrolysis, because the laser targets the hairs' roots, that are temporarily removed by waxing and electrolysis.

To prepare for the procedure, the surgeon cleans and sterilizes the skin. The skin may be numbed with a topical anesthetic. The laser is directed at the treatment area and the light penetrates the skin, vaporizes the hair shafts, and damages the hair follicles so that they cannot grow new hair. Not every follicle is completely destroyed by a single treatment, however any new hair that grows back tends to be lighter in color and finer than the original hair.

After the treatment, the skin may be tender and red for a brief time, and a topical cream may be recommended to ease discomfort. Typically, multiple treatments (up to 7 sessions) will be required to completely eliminate unwanted hair.

Risks

The most common side effects of laser hair removal include:

   •  Skin irritation. Temporary redness and swelling may occur after laser hair removal. These

symptoms typically disappear within a few hours.

   •  Pigment changes. Laser hair removal might lighten or darken the affected skin, usually on a

      temporary basis.

You should avoid sun exposure for several weeks before and after treatment.
